He has served at the Executive (EX) level with the Government of Canada, as counsel to the Military Police Complaints Commission, as a Member Representative with the RCMP, as a Federal Crown Prosecutor where he conducted workplace occupational health & safety cases, is a military veteran, and represented professionals like teachers, pharmacists and engineers before professional regulators.
His intimate understanding of the laws of investigation, evidence, statement taking, and defending or pursuing employment and professional conduct cases also derives from authoring The Investigator's Legal Handbook, 1st & 2nd eds. (Carswell: Toronto, 2006; 2014) and Le manuel juridique de l'enquêteur (Cowansville: Yvon Blais, 2010), as well as serving as editor of RegQuest: Regulatory Offences and Compliance Newsletter (Carswell). He continually reviews all significant new caselaw and legislation concerning employment and professional regulation so he can provide his clients with the most up to date, creative, and effective advice possible.
